“Against the canopy of the Austrian Alps lies the shadow of Auschwitz. This forested homeland is descended upon by foreigners (tourists from the newly borderless Eastern Europe). This tableau, which unfolds through a series of long speeches and numerous film projections, gradually turns into a battlefield. Speaking and contradicting one another are the Jewish émigré, philosopher and political scientist Hannah Arendt (the Woman) and the nationalistic existential philosopher Martin Heidegger (the old Man) who in reality once settled in the Black Forest area of Todtnauberg. The text resembles a tightrope walk between philosophical references, poetically condensed reality and loose travesty – between celebratory pathos and grief-stricken puns.” (Theater heute) A play about the entanglement of philosophy and fascism and the habitual mechanisms of repression.
