David Gieselmann

David Gieselmann (born in 1972 in Cologne) grew up in Darmstadt and studied playwriting in Berlin. Since 1999, Gieselmann has been writing plays and radio plays. In 1999 he was invited to the International Residency of Playwrights and the Week of New German Playwrights at the Royal Court in London where his play Herr Kolpert had its world premiere in 2000. Herr Kolpert was performed internationally on numerous occasions including a production at the Sydney Theatre Company. His play Die Tauben (The Pigeons) won the comedy award at Schaubuehne, Berlin in 2008. David Gieselmann has also written plays for young audiences, including an adaptation of Barbara Robinson's classic The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. His play Über Jungs (About Boys) won the Youth Play Award at the prestigious Heidelberger Stückemarkt in 2013.
