John Birke

John Birke (born in 1981 in Toronto) grew up in Berlin and Stuttgart, studied philosophy in Leipzig as well as Creative Writing in Hildesheim. As a dramatist he won several Most Promising awards and was invited to the ‘Second Weekend of Young Dramatists’ at the prestigious Munich Kammerspiele in 2004, and in 2005 he took part in the annual Playwright Workshop at the famous Burgtheater in Vienna. He has also translated plays by Neil LaBute and Mark Ravenhill.
