This play centres on the case of Filbinger, a former Nazi military and navy judge who later became Minister of Baden-Württemberg. “Hochhuth basically asks two questions – firstly, about the responsibility of the judge and the secondly, about the legitimacy of the post-war generation passing moral judgment where a legal judgment can no longer be made.” (Neue Zürcher Zeitung)
