Sitting Down - Essay on Honesty

Two college pals meet again, after 20 years. At first they just exchange niceties. But only a few sentences later, the old conflicts break out again. Which of them found the right life style? Which one is truly alive? Jan, who is a district attorney fighting white collar crime and, out of sheer idealism went to work in Kosovo for two years? Christoph, who became an actor so he could remain a "seeker"? Back then, it had been Christoph who cut off all contact, after an intense summer long friendship, and left Jan behind, in a state of despair. Now, the tables have turned. Christoph's marriage is in shambles, his entire existence turned out to be nothing but self deception. Jan, on the other hand, is happily married, his career is secure - but that does not mean he forgot the old wounds. What starts off as an anecdotal reunion, turns into a bitter battle of who has the upper hand in this emotional turmoil.
