Projekt Fremdraumpflege

Walter Koslowski has nothing against immigrants. Retired and single, he usually shops for produce at Ahmet’s, and he is always courteous to his neighbour who comes from Turkey. Still, Walter feels slightly uneasy when, after nearly suffering a stroke, he encounters Fatima Al-Sharif, a young doctor. He does not understand why she answers his question about where she is from with “from Marburg”, and even less, that she is rather aggravated when he compliments her on her excellent German. And so, a routine talk about his medical history turn into a funny and at the same time serious discussion about ethnicity and belonging, about personal sensitivities, and mostly, about how to be more than simply tolerant.
