Fear Travels With Us
A travel-opera epic in several acts
(Angst reist mit)
2F / 4M
An island far away from civilization; according to the travel brochure, it is one of the last untouched paradises. Here Karl and Karla, a couple of elderly teachers, want to take a vacation from themselves, and Ansgar and Kevin, two journalists in their early thirties, want to investigate the grievances in the third world. All of them are going to be disappointed: there's nothing even remotely idyllic; no appearances of child soldiers or sex tourism. Instead, they find nothing but boredom, casual tsunami warnings, and blatant hatred masked by professional courtesy. Between the travelers old-style liberal ideals clash with neoliberal ambition, yearning for life’s basics with the desire for comfort - until all of them are taken hostage. A nightmare begins and forces them to reevaluate preconceived opinions.
