Bermuda Triangle

The American pilot and feminist Amelia Earhart has been considered missing since her plane crashed over the Pacific in 1937, and her body was never found. Finding out who the real Karl May was took some research after his death, as the adventure writer had thoroughly enmeshed himself in the figments of his imagination. And the talent of Tom Ripley, Patricia Highsmith's famous literary creation, to cover his tracks and adopt new identities, is brilliant. The Bermuda Triangle, synonymous with disappearance, becomes the place where Earhart, May, and Ripley meet: an encounter with their own myths, images and speculations, and what once might have been their true selves. As revenants in the Here and Now, they realize that going under cover or putting on disguises is no longer necessary to re-inventing themselves, or simultaneously playing several parts, and so they are finally able to explore the space between their selves.
