The Cold Heart. Not a Fairy Tale
(Das kalte Herz. Kein Märchen)
2F / 5M
Long gone are the days when everybody in Peter’s town feared Hollander Michael who might rip out your heart. And nobody believes in the Little Glass Man anymore who could bring luck to a Sunday’s child. Luck, according to Peter’s friends, means getting discovered for television. His mother would already be glad to know that her son is not a loser like his father Michael, who moved into the basement and can’t remember who he is anymore. And Mother’s boyfriend Glassman can’t wait for Peter to move out.
But Peter is neither in the mood to let off steam by getting into fistfights with his friends, nor to start a life in small town bourgeoisie; and he feels only the deepest contempt for Glassman’s fortune-cookie wisdoms. He dreams of living differently, yet does not want to change a thing – until he meets Lisbeth who teaches him how to build a new life out of lies. Suddenly, the old world is gone, and Peter is a celebrated and admired hero, with a gorgeous wife, a beautiful apartment, and without any problems. But gradually, the resistance mounts in Peter’s compulsively optimized environment – a resistance that he can no longer control.
World premiere
