Once allies who colluded to remove Chronos from his throne, Prometheus’ and Zeus’ coalition fractures when the latter wants to cement his absolute power and destroy human life. He is thwarted by Prometheus who gives humankind the gift of fire, giving Zeus the pretext he needs to punish brutally the ringleaders of what he sees as an attempted coup.
In this new version by John von Düffel, Prometheus Bound examines how political allies become bitter enemies and depicts the frightening speed at which rebellions can turn into a dictatorships.
