In this forest, the past is never over. Here is the house where Lene lived with her father until the day she led him deep into the forest and abandoned him there. And the now deserted orphanage that Marek ran away from, as did Koll some years later. Today Lene lives here, together with Anton, an ambulance driver. When the day trippers return home, with their picnic blankets and soccer balls, they are the ones who are left: Marek, who wants to be a knight and avenger. The old man, Lene's father, who long since found his way back to her. Koll, who was accidentally killed by Anton, and Ada, who wants to stay with Koll. None of them will ever leave the forest. Prisoners of their own stories, they make their way through the underbrush in an everlasting midsummer night(mare)dream, seeking to be released. A rescue attempt can all too easily turn into manslaughter, closeness into assault, and the way out they all long for is a far away mirage, at best.
