Aria of Vengeance
(Rachearie)
Translated by Hansjörg Betschart
1F / 1M
As "interior designer of misery" (Süddeutsche Zeitung), in this one-act play Norén constricts the collision of opposing pairs to a claustrophobic situation for two. Elizabeth spent the day alone in the apartment, and only the voices on her husband Joseph's answering machine disturbed the loneliness. When Joseph comes home in the evening, his wife grills him in some sort of interrogation: Not only did their daughter leave a desperate message – most importantly, the tape also recorded the declaration of love from a young man, who obviously is in an erotic relationship with Joseph.
