12-year-old Ronny’s family has moved house. A new home, a new town and a new school. But will he find new friends? The other kids seem completely uninterested in him. When Ronny, in a desperate bid for attention, claims that his bike goes faster than a car and his head receives signals from outer space, he’s not exactly making himself more likeable. But then he – mostly by accident – steals a copy of Gottfried August Bürger’s Munchausen stories from a shop selling antique books. When he then tells the story of how his grandfather tied his horse to the top of a church spire and managed to pull himself out of a swamp by his own hair, he has the uninterrupted attention of Marek, Wedat, Kalida and even the clever Tessa. Over time, Ronny the Liar morphs into Ronny the Storyteller. When his deception is discovered – via the internet – Ronny has to make a decision. Should he change schools again? Or trust that his friends are going to stick by him regardless?
