To Hell With Other People
(Zur Hölle mit den anderen)
2F / 2M
They’d expected a cosy, convivial evening. Inseparable during their student years, Sandra and Katrin meet again nine years later. They’ve both moved to the same area, have fantastic husbands at their side and their children are almost the same age. Rekindling their friendship should be easy. But when Katrin finds Sandra’s placenta preserved in a jar on a bookshelf, it suddenly becomes obvious that all those shared memories don’t count for much. Expectations of social roles, ideals and well-hidden psychological traits are dragged out into the open and both women suddenly seem incapable of saying anything without causing offence.
To Hell With Other People is a trenchant comedy about the contradictions of today’s way of life. Driven onwards by its razor-sharp dialogue, this play charts a course that can only end in a total fiasco. For these two women, propping up their own life concepts catapults them into a heated battle in which any means is justified, no matter how perfidious, as long as it helps the combatants defend their own form of existence.
World premiere
17.09.2018 Theater Aachen (Director: Stefan Herrmann)
