Frog King

A princess, a golden ball, a frog – same old story, one might think. But the fairytale characters in Thomas Freyer’s Frog King have a mind of their own. Here, the princesses don’t simply wait for princes to lead them away to a new life, kings have parenting troubles (and are not quite the role models they pretend to be), and faithful servants develop tender feelings without losing their heads. Unburdened by Disney-style kitsch and romanticizing notions of princesses, Freyer takes his characters seriously and makes them find new ways on familiar paths.
