Fabian Gerhardt, born in Berlin, studied acting. After engagements in Leipzig, Bremen and Hannover, he worked as a freelance actor at various major theatres. In 2010, he made his directorial debut at the Dresden State Theatre with Athol Fugard's The Island. Since then, he has mainly worked as a director, often of his own projects or adaptations, at theatres including the Deutsches Theater Berlin, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Schauspielhaus Bochum and Neuköllner Oper Berlin.
