Thomas Arzt
Thomas Arzt was born 1983 in Schlierbach, Austria. He studied Theatre, Film, and Media Sciences at the University of Vienna, and was a guest student at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen (Academy for Film and Television) in Munich. For his play Tschikhäuslbubi, he received an invitation to join the writers' project stück/für/stück (piece/by/piece) at the Schauspielhaus Wien for the season 2007/08. During this time, he conceived the play Grillenparz, which won him the Hans Gratzer fellowship and was performed at the Schauspielhaus Wien. In 2009 he received a scholarship from Literar-Mechana, in 2010 the Thomas Bernhard-Stipend of the Landestheater in Linz. In 2012 he was awarded the prize of the Heidelberger Stückemarkt for his play Alpenvorland. In 2013 he was awarded the Ute Nyssen & Jürgen Bansemer Prize for Playwrights.
