“A writer portrays his own asceticism by writing about the creation of a new text – a work about his restraints and inhibitions, portraying tenderness, distrust and the rituals which connect him to his life partner, who is also a poetess. He confesses his addiction to alcohol and unleashes his disappointment and frustration (…) The text, divided between three speakers, is written entirely in the subjunctive and third person. This strict form allows extreme mood swings between sobriety and theatricality, without the play appearing sentimental or mannered.” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung)
