The extended jewish family spends their vacation in the summer house. Apart from the change in political climate because of a growing anti-semitism in today's Swedish society, they are concerned with Clara, a young actress, who had just been brilliant in Chekhov's Seagull, but who is now dealing with psychological problems. "Norén's sumptuous opus is rich in irritations and breaks of conventional dramaturgy... What happens in the rather traumatizing family circle... can occasionally shatter the illusionistic and psychologial conventions of stage, role, actor and audience. The border between character and persona gets crossed to our surprise; in realities seeming to shift rapidly between play and pretend, for example, or when miscellaneous dialogues suddenly mix and run parallel or on top of each other, putting the important and the inconsequential in context... the piece is a self-reflecting theatre play... a space for associations.» (Süddeutsche Zeitung)
