Faust is plagued by a major existential crisis; he wants more out of life: more knowledge, more love, more feeling – the whole gamut of emotions. In search of the ultimate kick, of fun and ecstasy, he makes a fatal pact with Mephisto, the devil, and trades his soul for full intensity. Together, the two plunge into the rush of time: higher, faster, further! Without regard for the consequences, Faust not only drags Gretchen with him into ruin. There is no happy ending, or maybe there is – but for whom?
Faust 1 + 2 + 3 is a furious trip through the shallows of feeling and understanding, science and superstition, logic and magic, love and hate, heaven and hell, through literary and reception history and texts for eternity – it is still about everything: Have now, alas!, and sky is the limit. Felix Krakau retells the classic of classics in a new and condensed, fast-paced, seductive and megalomaniacal way, circling around the timeless questions: What is worth getting out of bed for – and what is the meaning of life, anyway? In the end, there is a bet again – for nothing less than the future.
«Felix Krakau's distancing of itself from the classic text reveals its power for today's world ... In this grandiose, cleverly designed and entertaining production, Faust becomes a probing game of selfhood and worldly wonder ... A strong piece of contemporary theater.» (Die deutsche Bühne)
