Cargo (Nautical Thinking I-IV)
(Fracht (Nautisches Denken I- IV))
2F / 2M
Pirates have captured an oil tanker off the Somalian coast. The news reports flicker on the plasma screens in airport lobbies in different parts of the world, where Syha's four protagonists are waiting to board their planes. Without being fully aware of it, they are all somehow involved in the ships' capture. But for now, the time spent in the boarding area makes them reflect on their own lives. A management consultant learned a short while ago that he has a grown up son, whose existence he knew nothing of. The spokeswoman for a security systems firm is pondering her affair with an idealistic American journalist, who disappeared during the night without a trace. A lawyer is being haunted by a brother - one that he actually once invented for his own protection. And a simultaneous interpreter is dogged by doubt whether she exists in fact as a person. Accompanied by the broadcast signals of political events, the four navigate through their overlapping biographies.
