You don't need a travel guide for a village you can see

Berlin-Kreuzberg, Wrangelstrasse. When in the 1960's the first immigrants moved into the ramshackle old buildings in this dilapidated quarter, abutting the Wall, everybody expected just one thing: That they would soon return to their home country. But by now, like many others, Mahmut Sahin (60) and his wife Günay have been living for decades in this "permanent makeshift solution". Mahmut runs a little café, his oldest son Mesut an ice-cream parlor and, across the street, a pizza place. Feride, his sister, wants to go to college and until then, she works odd jobs, like the one in a health club, where Turkish customers are no longer well received. Only Hakan, their 28-year old brother, can't find a job, despite having finished his vocational training, and he has to earn his money in unconventional ways. All in all, the climate within the community has drastically changed. After the fall of the Wall, the formerly peripheral quarter finds itself smack in the middle of Berlin, and the former "no-go area" becomes gentrified. Mahmud's apartment, as well as his café, become objects of desire for real-estate brokers, and the methods used to acquire them are not always subtle. A rift runs through the family, where controversial attitudes collide, and not everybody is equally able to deal with the new situation.
