The Earth is so beautiful. Fairy lights, coral reefs, Tupperware boxes, airports – things that make life worth living. But which, in the foreseeable future, will no longer exist. It’s obvious what we could do about it, but it’s so hard to give things up. So we keep going. We entertain each other, encourage each other in our powerlessness, celebrate what we have: lots of guests have turned up for the 55th birthday of the affable millionaire Stefan, luxury cars are parked in front of the house, there’s a fully stocked bar and the table groans under the weight of all the presents. We can afford to celebrate properly. But then Stefan doesn't show up. And the person who is booked to provide good vibes and music takes the floor. There is plenty to say, even if no one really wants to hear it. Enough that cannot be said loudly enough, even if you have to climb a tree with a microphone to avoid being silenced.
How to endure the contradictions? How to live an everyday life that will soon lead to the end of everything? In the search for the right words and the right way to approach things – the big things and the little things – in the face of the current crisis, this solo bids a loving farewell to the world as we know it: colourful and lively.
