Swing Again. A Riotous Assembly to Commit Social Nonsense
(Swing again)
Young Audiences5F / 5M
The Swing Kids, adolescent fans of swing music whose zest for non-conformism had been a thorn in the side of Nazi authorities, are the point of departure of this joint research into civic courage and opportunism, into freedom and repression. Even though it starts with the spirited conviction that oneself would obviously have sided with fun and self-determination, the play progressively gives way to doubtfulness: “Would we really? Have danced, rebelled against National Socialism, and risked our lives? And how does one actually fight for freedom?” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung)
World premiere
06.01.2013 Schauspiel Frankfurt (Junges Schauspiel) (Director: Martina Droste)
